Constellation Brands Invests In Virginia’s Catoctin Creek Distillery

Constellation Brands revealed in its recent third quarter fiscal announcement that it has invested in Virginia’s Catoctin Creek Distillery.

This is in line with Constellation Brands ongoing strategic shift towards investing in high-end U.S. craft spirits and beer, which includes purchase of Ballast Point Brewing Company and High West Distillery.

A press release on the Catoctin Creek website described the investment as a “minority stake.” Financial terms were not disclosed. This investment provides the distillery with new capital to grow production, marketing, and to provide more jobs in Virginia, according to the release.

“In order to expand our production and portfolio, we needed the right partner for the next level of growth,” says Becky Harris, the president and chief distiller of Catoctin Creek, in the release. “Constellation has a strong commitment to this category, and with their expertise and support, we look forward to bringing our Virginia whisky to the world with the same team and exceptional product quality.”

“We created Catoctin Creek to produce award-winning 100% rye single-barrel whisky entirely from grain to glass,” she adds.
