Lo-Fi Aperitifs

Lo-Fi Aperitifs is a new line of American craft aperitifs distilled in Napa from Steven Grasse, the creator of Hendrick’s Gin, Sailor Jerry Rum, and Art in the Age.

Grasse teamed up with Claire Sprouse, bartenders and co-founder of the Tin Roof Drink Community, to create a liquid that bar professionals could use in cocktails as well as drink straight, the company says. The result was Lo-Fi Aperitifs: Sweet Vermouth, Dry Vermouth, and Gentian Amaro.

Each one is a blend of California wine and cold-extracted whole botanicals. Each is made with whole ingredients, and without the use of coloring agents.

Launched in Fall 2015 in San Francisco, Lo-Fi’s first offerings have already made a splash in some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s cocktail bars, the company says, including Trick Dog, Foreign Cinema (where Lo-Fi is currently on the menu, on the rocks, as a special offering), and Benjamin Cooper.

The suggested retail price is about $25 per 750-ml. bottle.
