Groth Vineyards & Winery Promotes New President/CEO

Groth Vineyards & Winery has named Suzanne Groth to the role of president and CEO.

Suzanne will direct all aspects of the family-owned Oakville Winery founded in 1981 in the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley by her parents, Dennis and Judy Groth.

“Suzanne has worked for nineteen years in successively more responsible positions at Groth, and is well qualified to lead our family winery into the future,” said Dennis Groth in a press release. Founder and former president Dennis will become chairman of the winery’s board of directors.

After spending four years with the Henry Wine Group, a California wine distributor, Suzanne joined the family business in 1998 working in wine sales and public relations. In 2006, Suzanne became a stakeholder in Groth Vineyards & Winery. In 2009, she was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing.

During these years at Groth, she traveled the country handling wine distribution, customer relations, direct to consumer sales, and marketing and public relations, the company said. In recent years, she became involved in all aspects of production including growing grapes and making wine.

In her new role as president, the key functions of winegrowing, including the winemaking team and the vineyard management team lead by director of winegrowing Cameron Parry, sales and marketing, and finance will report directly to Groth.

Suzanne is a member of the board of directors of the Wine Institute and the Oakville Winegrowers. With a Bachelor of Arts in art history, she continues to pursue an interest in art and is an avid painter, the company said, producing a new painting with each release of a Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. These paintings are on the the walls of the winery, and one hangs at the Wine Institute in San Francisco, and three hang in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Groth Vineyards & Winery produces distinctive Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from 161 acres of estate vineyards and long-term grower partnerships in Oakville and Napa.
