Stranahan’s Sherry Cask American Single Malt

Stranahan’s Rocky Mountain Single Malt Whiskey has announced Stranahan’s Sherry Cask.

Master Distiller Rob Dietrich developed Sherry Cask by finishing four year-aged Rocky Mountain Single Malt in 500-liter Oloroso Sherry barrels. These barrels, which have aged sherry wine for over 40 years, came from the Andalusia region of southwestern Spain, known to oenophiles as the Sherry Triangle.

The resulting Stranahan’s Sherry Cask has flavors of vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate and depth of oak, the company reports. The nose is over-ripe cherry, sweet apples, raisins, almonds, leather and fresh-cut hay, while the palate includes honey, Montmorency cherries, blackcurrant and fig, with a nutty brine and walnut characteristics

“We tested the Oloroso Sherry cask-finished whiskey last year at our first annual Cask Thief festival and our fans and family loved it,” says Dietrich. “That’s when we knew we had to bring it to the national market. I’m really excited to add this expression to our lineup of whiskeys and help expand and showcase just how special American Single Malt whiskey is and what it can bring to the world stage.”

Stranahan’s Sherry Cask is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof) and will be available nationwide for $79.99 per 750-ml. bottle. It is also available for purchase online at ReserveBar.com/StranahansSherryCask.
