BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA ‘€“ (June 2, 2010) ‘€“ Father-and-son team open tasting room of their new business, Bainbridge Organic Distillers. Keith and Patrick Barnes have established a small-batch distillery offering ultra premium spirits made in Washington State. Each batch is made from USDA-certified organic grains grown in Washington State. Tasting room hours are: 10 AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday; and 10 AM-3 PM, Saturday.

Bainbridge Organic Distillers is currently pouring its first product ‘€“ Bainbridge Legacy Organic Vodka. The small batch organic vodka is distilled six times from Washington wheat. A standard 750 ML bottle retails for $32.95. Bainbridge Legacy Organic Vodka is available by request at Washington State liquor stores and at the distillery. Washington State law allows visitors of the distillery to purchase up to two liters per person, per day.

Keith Barnes, co-owner of Bainbridge Organic Distillers, said the company’€™s mission is two-fold. He explained that it is about having a passion to produce the highest caliber certified organic spirits and doing so in a way that respects the land.

‘€œCreating organic spirits is significantly more difficult that making conventional ones,’€ said Keith Barnes. ‘€œBut being organic has allowed us to control the process and ingredients with no compromises. And it allows the character of the land on which our grains are grown and the maritime influence of our island location to be evident in the finished spirit.’€

Patrick Barnes sums it up. ‘€œWe feel that when you use the absolute best ingredients available, and carefully control the distilling process, you’€™re going to make a better product. Working directly with farmers allows us to do that. Knowing that the decisions we make as a business allow us to be more sustainable and responsible is very satisfying.’€
