Wirtz Beverage Acquires Folio Fine Wine Partners

Wirtz Beverage has added to its wine portfolio in Wisconsin with the acquisition of Folio Fine Wine Partners.

Folio joins the recent partnership with Groth Vineyards & Winery and others from around the world in the company’s growing fine wine portfolio.

“Wine consumption across the country continues to grow and we are certainly seeing that here in Wisconsin,” says Nate Phippen, VP of Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin. “We are investing in both our portfolio and wine specialization expertise to really accelerate and lead market growth in the wine segment.”

Founded by the Mondavi family, Folio boasts 28 brands originating from five countries including America, Italy, Spain, Austria and Germany.

Alan Faber, Wirtz Beverage Wine Specialist explains the company’s wine investments, “We have a team of highly educated wine experts who work every day with our customers, especially those in bars and restaurants, to teach them the nuances of the brands, to assist with pairings and to build a diverse menu that will excite the consumer.  We’ve seen an increased interest in fine wines and by introducing new brands to the market we can help meet that demand.”

Folio’s data, insights and analysis could aid in Wirtz Beverage’s employee training. All members of the company’s wine team complete its proprietary BEV Certification Program for Wine, and many continue further with external certification thru the CSW and Court of Master Sommeliers Program.

“Our sales consultants are continually trained to ensure we have the most knowledgeable team, many are even pursuing advanced specialization,” says Phippen .”We then work with our customers, especially bartenders and servers, on wine and brand education.  Today, it’s what consumers have come to expect.”
