Heineken USA (HUSA) has awarded the company’s 1864 Award for Responsibility to Andrews Distributing Company of North Texas.
The award — which recognizes a top distributor for best-in-class practices promoting responsible consumption and moderation — was presented to the Dallas-based company Feb. 26, at the HUSA annual National Distributor Conference in New Orleans, LA.
To be considered for the annual award, distributors submitted responsible consumption initiatives, many of which integrate HUSA programs including: safe ride partnerships with transportation network companies such as Uber; Alcohoot, the world’s first smartphone breathalyzer promoting smart decisions based on blood alcohol content; and Health Alliance on Alcohol, a national public initiative, developed in partnership with HUSA, New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System, and White Plains Hospital, that provides parents, mentors, and community leaders free and impactful tools to spark conversations with teens to prevent underage drinking.
Andrews Distributing has consistently been a leader in promoting responsible consumption culture, according to a Heineken press release.
This past year, Andrews proactively partnered with HUSA to execute several co-branded responsibility campaigns to promote safe rides home.
In North Texas, through a partnership with Uber, Andrews provided over 275 free rides home to first-time users, and engaged thousands of current Uber users through digital and radio supported responsibility promotions.
In South Texas, Andrews held a holiday safe ride home program, in which hundreds of people received a free cab ride home. In addition, the distributor supports many local and statewide initiatives that advocate for moderate consumption and help build awareness of responsibility programs such as the Health Alliance on Alcohol.
“We are very proud to receive this prestigious award that recognizes our partnership with Heineken USA to promote safe and responsible consumption,” said Barry Andrews, CEO, Andrews Distributing Company.
