Black Trumpet Blueberry Cordial is the newest farm-to-bottle spirit in the collaborative Art in the Age Infusions series coming out of Tamworth Distilling.
Blueberries plucked from the Foss Mountain berry patch serve as the base. For the next element, distillers Matt Power and Jamie Oakes turned to the New Hampshire Mushroom Company. Together, they decided on the black trumpet mushroom, which is native to area forests.
“The rich, fruity, smoky flavor of the black trumpet provides a perfect counterbalance to the sweet, tart blueberries,” the company said in a press release.
Taking from the distillery’s own botanical gardens, a bit of lemon verbena and lavender add some floral and citrus notes. The finished product is a balanced cordial enjoyed on its own, over ice or suited best in a cocktail.
Black Trumpet Blueberry Cordial will be released in early Spring 2016.
The ABV is 25% and the SRP is $25 per 375-ml. bottle.
