Senda Verde 2015 Vintage

Senda Verde is a collection of artisanal wines from regions in northern Spain that follow the 43°N parallel, stretching from coastal Galicia eastward along the northern coastline.

The 2015 line includes:

Treixadura 2015: 100% Treixadura. The Treixadura grapes are sourced from the banks of Miño River, belonging to the D.O. Ribeiro which is the most ancient appellation in the region of Galicia. The vines are arranged in the “espaldera” (trellis) system. The average age of the vines is about 25 years old and harvested at 3.35 tons/acres. The soil is a mixture of slate and granite, with presence of alluvial stones and gravel which improves the soil composition. 13.5% ABV

SENDA-MENCIAAlbariño 2015: 100% Albariño. The grapes are sourced from the vineyards situated in the Salnés Valley and the ORosal area, within the D.O. Rías Baixas appellation. Vines are arranged in the “emparrado” and “espaldera” (trellis) systems. The soils are largely granite, with some chalk and clay – even the posts for supporting the grapevines are made from granite instead of wood. 12.5% ABV

Godello 2015: 100% Godello. The 39-acre Godello vineyard grows in the El Bierzo winegrowing region, within the D.O. Bierzo appellation. The soil is a mixture of slate and granite, with presence of alluvial stones and gravel which improves the soil composition. The vines are arranged in the “espaldera” (trellis) system with vines averaging 40+ years old. 13.5% ABV.

Mencía 2015: 100% Mencía. The Mencía vines are arranged mainly in “goblet” (bush vines) system and are grown on the mountainsides for protection from the cold northern weather. The vines neither lack for rain nor suffer from excessive humidity, allowing ripe flavors with subtle acidities. Harvested at 2.67 tons/acres, the vines age 40+ years old. The soil is a mixture of slate and granite, giving the wine mineral notes.
