Hardy USA, Ltd. will introduce to the United States the Scotland-based Loch Lomond Distilleries’ “Island Collection” of three single malt whiskies. This includes Inchmurrin 12 year old, Inchmurrin 18 year old and Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish.
Inchmurrin 12 year old is aged in three types of casks and features a light and fruity nose with a peppery finish, the company reports. Tasting notes at a recent spirits competition described Inchmurrin as “Double cream, light olive oil and dry wood on the nose, opening to orange zest with water. The taste is sweet, spicy and interesting.” The suggested retail price is $84.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
The Inchmurrin 18 year retails for $159.99 per 750-ml. bottle. Tasting notes at a recent spirits competition described it as “silky smooth single malt with biscuit and tropical fruit flavors, infused with layers of nut, spice, ginger and citrus fruit characters.”
Madeira is aged in American oak casks that have been previously used to age Madeira wines. The casks enhance the sweetness of the whisky, the company says, and add nutmeg and marzipan flavors. The Madeira finish retails for a suggested price of $94.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
Each of the Inchmurrin Island Collection whiskies are 46% ABV and non-chill filtered.
“National distribution is currently being arranged through our distributor network,” said A. Hardy USA president Mark Levinson in a press release. “Daily inquiries regarding Inchmurrin’s availability are already coming in, demonstrating the popularity and potential of this product in the U.S. market.”
