The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Co. has unveiled its ninth release: Orphan Barrel Whoop & Holler.
This is a 28-year-old charcoal-mellowed American whiskey, the company says in a press release. Whoop & Holler originates from the George Dickel Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Like other whiskeys from Orphan Barrel, it will be highly allocated with no future releases planned.
The whiskey is chilled and then charcoal mellowed with Tennessee sugar maple charcoal that is burned onsite, the company says.
Whoop & Holler has a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley. On the nose is corn kennel, citrus peel and honey notes, the company says, followed by an oak-forward flavor with spicy peppercorn, clove, dark chocolate and peanut shell notes.
Whoop & Holler is 84 poof and retails for $175 per 750-ml. bottle.
