Smith & Hook Proprietary Red Blend

Smith & Hook has announced a new wine that the companies says represents California’s Central Coast: Smith & Hook Proprietary Red Blend.

This blend of Merlot, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and layered with dark fruit characteristics and integrated tannins, the company says. It retails for $25 per 750-ml. bottle, and is a 2013 vintage.

The Proprietary Red Blend joins the Cabernet Sauvignon (Central Coast, $25) as the second wine under the Smith & Hook brand, which is owned and run by Hahn Family Wines.

Grapes for the blend were sourced from Santa Lucia Highlands, Arroyo Seco, San Antonio Valley and Paso Robles.
