Esprit du Vin Will Merge Pasternak Wine Imports Into Its Portfolio

National U.S. importer Esprit du Vin Fine Wine Merchants (EDV) today announced an agreement to acquire the assets of Pasternak Wine Imports from the current owner, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite).

Effective January 1, 2017, the Pasternak portfolio – comprised of wines from France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand and California – will be merged into the existing EDV portfolio. This will bring synergies including exclusive U.S. import rights for the entire range of wines from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR), the company says, as well as access to First Growth Bordeaux Chateau Lafite Rothschild.

Esprit du Vin (EDV), a Taub Family company, was established in 2010, beginning with founding producers such as Maison F.E. Trimbach, Ch. Greysac, Domaines Paul Mas, Domaine Bertagna, Domaine Antonin Guyon and Ch. de la Chaize. In recent years, the EDV portfolio has expanded beyond France to include properties in wine regions around the globe.

“The Pasternak company ethos is very much in line with that of the Taub Family companies: a focus on unique wines that express a sense of place, made by family-oriented producers,” said Marc D. Taub, President & CEO of Esprit du Vin, in a press release.

The Taub family also owns wine and spirits importer Palm Bay International.

The sale of the Pasternak strategic assets to Esprit du Vin will enable current owner Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) to focus its energy exclusively on being a producer and supplier, the company says, while transitioning U.S. import operations to a seasoned and trusted partner.
