Beaulieu Vineyard of Napa Valley is undergoing a changing of the guard on the wine side.

Trevor Durling (pictured atop) has been named the new general manager and chief winemaker for Beaulieu Vineyard. He becomes just the sixth winemaker for the winery since its founding in 1900.

Durling has been serving as the winemaker for Provenance and Hewitt. In his new role he replaces Jeffrey Stambor.

Stambor, who joined Beaulieu Vineyard in 1989 and led the winery for nearly three decades, will serve as a Beaulieu Vineyard Brand Ambassador over the next few months before departing in June. As he transitions, Stambor remarked that he “could not imagine leaving Beaulieu Vineyards in better hands,” the company says.

Durling, a Sonoma County native, graduated from UC Davis after studying viticulture and enology. He worked harvests at Sonoma-Cutrer in the Russian River Valley and at Gloria Ferrer before joining organic producer Moon Mountain Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, where he focused on Bordeaux styled wines grown in demanding mountain terroir. He joined Provenance Founding Winemaker Tom Rinaldi in 2010, crafting wines from throughout Napa Valley but with access to top vineyards in Rutherford.

Upon Rinaldi’s retirement, Durling was appointed chief winemaker at Hewitt and Provenance in 2015.
