Fabriquero Sotol

Fabriquero Sotol, a collection of traditional distillates produced in the Denomination of Origin Sotol, has launched its first product from the Mexican state of Durango.

Fabriquero Sotol Durango is produced from wild Dasylirion wheeleri, known as “The Desert Spoon.” Currently one of two sotols produced in Durango, Fabriquero Sotol is made by Don Héctor Jiménez.

Sotol has a Denomination of Origin that is composed of three states in northern Mexico – Durango, Coahuila and Chihuahua. The sotol plants used to create this spirit are estate-grown, the company says, and at maturity are half of the size of typical agave plants.

Fabriquero Sotol displays minerality and a variety of flavors from notes of wild grass to an underlying woody richness, the company reports. This sotol also exhibits herbaceous notes with violet blossom, charred mesquite, acidity and a long finish. Earthy notes on the palate demonstrate the terroir of this sotol’s provenance.

Fabriquero Sotol will be available nationwide in limited quantities with a suggested retail price of $64.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
