Pedroncelli Winery New Releases

Pedroncelli Winery has announced a number of new releases that are available now. Here’s what’s hitting shelves now from this Northern California winery:

2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir: Sourced from neighbor growers in the Russian River Valley in this cool climate appellation. Aromas of rose petals, pomegranate and nutmeg, the company says, followed by flavors of strawberry and black plum, plus toasty oak notes framed by bright acidity. Light bodied, smooth, and balanced with mild tannins. Aged 8 months in French Oak barrels. The suggested retail price is $22 per 750-ml. bottle.

2015 Sonoma Classico: Sonoma Classico is the next step in the evolution of Sonoma County blends, the company says. Combines merlot, zinfandel, petite sirah and syrah. Aged for 11 months in new and seasoned American oak barrels with 20% new oak. Aromas and flavors of ripe berry, black plum, spicy pepper and toasted oak, the company reports, with an underlying structure of medium tannins and bright acidity bringing balance. The suggested retail price is $19 per 750-ml. bottle.

2015 “Retro” Zinfandel: As part of Pedroncelli’s 90th Anniversary celebration, they have released a limited run of their 2015 Mother Clone Zinfandel, featuring a “retro” label (pictured atop). The 2015 vintage marks the 50th anniversary of vintage dating at Pedroncelli. This label was used on the 1965 Zinfandel. Note the “Sonoma County” designation — some 50 years before the initiative to mark all wines with grapes grown in Sonoma County. Same distinctive Dry Creek Valley characteristics of the berry-spice dynamic, the company says, with brighter acidity and rounded tannin. The suggested retail price is $19 per 750-ml. bottle.
