Buffalo Trace Antique Weller Named ‘World Whisky of the Year’

You thought it was hard to track down already.

One of the most highly coveted whiskey releases has obtained an even higher profile. Buffalo Trace’s William Larue Weller, a wheated cask-strength from the brand’s much-sought-after 2018 Antique Collection, was named World Whisky of the Year in “Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2019.”

The long-running book by whiskey writer Jim Murray is influential of consumer attitudes.

Buffalo Trace scored another victory when their Thomas Handy Sazerac Straight Rye, also a cask-strength Antique Collection offering, scored Third Best Whiskey in the world.

This is the second year in a row a whiskey from Buffalo Trace Distillery has taken home the prize of number-one whiskey in the world from Jim Murray. In addition, Buffalo Trace’s Blanton’s Gold Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was named Single Cask of the Year, while the Sazerac-owned The Last Drop Distillers’ “Glenrothes” release was honored as Scotch Single Cask of the Year.
