Rogue Ales Counter Currant

Rogue Ales & Spirits has announced its newest nationwide seasonal beer release: Counter Currant.

This is a ground-to-glass beer inspired by black currants grown at Rogue Farms in Independence, Oregon. Pouring deep purple in color, Counter Currant is a light-bodied fruit ale with flavors of black currant and a dry, tart finish, the company says.

The beer is 6.4% ABV with 11 IBUs. The ingredients are 2-Row, Munich, Wheat, and Red X and Dextrapils malts; Rogue Farms Liberty Hops; Rogue Farms black currants; Pacman yeast and coastal water.

Counter Currant is available nationwide from November 2018 through February 2019.

“The berries add layers of flavor to the lightly hopped ale,” says Brewmaster John Maier. “Black currants have a sweet and earthy flavor profile and floral aromatics, which makes this ale a balanced sip with depth of flavor. It’s a great beer to go on your Thanksgiving table.”

Black currants (also known as cassis) have a cabernet sauvignon-like intensity that is balanced with a strong backbone of acidity and sweetness, the company says, which makes Counter Currant food-friendly.

Counter Currant is available nationally on draft and in 4-pack 16-ounce cans. Find it near you.
