M.S. Walker, a New England-based national importer and distributor, has launched two new expressions of Grand MacNish Scotch whisky in the U.S.
The Limited Release Double Matured Series features a 13-Year Rum Cask Finished Blended Scotch, and a 15-Year Sherry Cask Finished Blended Scotch. The Grand MacNish Double Matured series is distilled, matured, blended, finished and bottled in Scotland at 43% ABV (86 Proof). These whiskies first matured in American oak bourbon barrels, before finishing in sherry or rum barrels for one year.
The Grand MacNish 13-Year Rum Cask Finish Blended Scotch is a balance between oak and ripe fruits, the company reports, with a spicy, lingering finish, while the 15-Year Sherry Cask Finished Scotch combines sherry and vanilla notes on the nose and palate with a warming finish. These whiskies were finished by Master Blender Scott Sneddon at the new InchDarnie Distillery.
Grand MacNish’s Double Matured Cask series is currently available, with the 15-year-old Sherry Cask retailing for $54.99 and the 13-year-old Rum Cask retailing for $44.99, both for a 750-ml bottle. This batch-bottled production run is limited to 5,400 bottles, all of which are being sold in the U.S.
