90+ Cellars New Spring Wines

The trendy wine label 90+ Cellars has announced five new wines for its 2019 spring lineup. These include the brand’s first ever organic rosé from Languedoc — launching in May for a suggested retail price of $14.99 per 750-ml. bottle — along with these four new wines:

Bourgogne Aligoté, AOC France, 2017: Known for its crisp and dry-but-fruity profile, this white grape grows on the tops and bottoms of Burgundy’s sloping vineyards. Aromas of stone fruits like nectarine and peach are followed by fresh herbs on the nose, the company says. On the palate this wine has mineral-driven flavors and a bright acidity. Aligoté pairs well with shellfish, fish dishes and cow’s milk cheeses. The suggested retail price is $17.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

Auxey-Duresses, AOC France, 2016: Like most wines made in the Côte du Beaune, this wine is made on a small scale, with limited production. The chardonnay grapes are picked by hand, barrel fermented and aged in oak casks for a year. Lemon aromas and white flowers rise above hints of vanilla with flavors of crisp apple and a flinty minerality, the company says. Goes well with shrimp and fish in spicy sauces, as well as ratatouille and cooked shellfish. The suggested retail price is $39.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

LMuscadet, Loire Valley France, 2018: Muscadet grows on hillsides between the rivers Sèvre and Maine, tributaries of France’s Loire River. After pressing the grapes, the juice is separated, fermented and then left to rest Sur Lie, which lends a creaminess to this lively white wine, the company says. Notes of white grapefruit and melon. Once sipped, notes of lemon peel and lime are on the palate. Serve alongside freshly shucked oysters. The suggested retail price is $12.49 per 750-ml. bottle.

LoPouilly-Fumé, Loire Valley France, 2018: Pouilly-Fumé is one of France’s most famous white wines (and white wine regions). After harvest, the grape bunches are pressed, and allowed to settle before a natural fermentation. The wine is then left to mature on the lees for several months, producing a perfume and a silky texture. Grown on limestone and clay soils, the sauvignon blanc of Pouilly-Fumé has a reputation for offering gunflint or smoky notes. This wine is flinty with notes of gooseberry and white flowers on the nose, the company says. Citrus mixed with a bright freshness follow on the palate. Serve alongside fresh seafood or assorted cheeses. The suggested retail price is $23.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
