The Macallan Launches Exceptional Single Cask 1950

The Macallan has unveiled the latest release in its Exceptional Single Cask range – an expression that was distilled in 1950.

The 1950’s represent a significant period in history for The Macallan, the company says. Milestone moments include the investment in the construction of new buildings and the modernization of old, the purchase of additional farmland and the addition of the first Macallan highland cows on the residence.

The discovery of this first-fill sherry butt cask was a “special moment for The Macallan whisky-making team,” the company says. It represents a combination of antique oak and subtle peach, with lingering peat.

The Exceptional Single Cask series is an exclusive range of whiskies showcasing the depth and diversity of The Macallan. Each whisky is one of a kind, never to be repeated.

The 1950 release from the Exceptional Single Cask series will be available starting this August for a suggested retail price of $58,000, with only 336 bottles of this rare single malt available globally.
