Viv&Oak, a California cannabis wine company, has announced the launch of its cannabis-infused red blend, Shimmering Scarlett.
Featuring 100% zinfandel grapes, the Shimmering Scarlett collection is available in three dosing styles. The red wine is de-alcoholized and infused with THC, CBD and THCv.
“It took us two years to figure out how to combine cannabis with the tannins of red wine,” says Alana Burstein, founder and president of Viv&Oak. “It’s an extremely complicated process, especially without sacrificing quality or taste. But I think we’ve nailed it – our red collection is here just in time for the cold winter months. And perfect for those who want a healthier alternative to alcohol.”
Viv&Oak’s Shimmering Scarlett collection features notes of cherry, plum and blackberry, the company says. The three dosing styles are below:
- 50 mg THC per bottle
- 100 mg CBD, 4 mg THC per bottle
- 25 mg THCv, 25 mg THC, 25 mg CBD per bottle
The THC used by Viv&Oak is a hybrid strain of Sativa and Indica. Viv&Oak partnered with cannabis producer Doug’s Varin to source its tetrahydrocannabivarin (or THCv), a plant-based cannabinoid supplied by California Cannabinoids. According to Doug’s Varin, it “delivers a clear-headed burst of mental stimulation that doesn’t last long, making this strain a perfect choice for anyone seeking short-term effects.”
The Shimmering Scarlett collection will be priced at $38 per 750-ml. bottle.
Viv&Oak recommends five-ounce pours as a suggested serving size. Each serving contains 16 calories and 3 grams of sugar. Consumers may start to feel the effects of the beverage within 10 minutes, and for up to a few hours after.
This announcement follows Viv&Oak’s recent launch of Sparkling Rosé, offered in two dosing styles.
All Viv&Oak products are available in select dispensaries throughout California and are distributed by Distro Ave.
This comes as craft beer companies are also expanding into cannabis-infused products.
