Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec, Grand Cabernet Sauvignon

Argentinian wine estate Terrazas de los Andes has launched Grand Malbec and Grand Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Our icon, Terrazas Grand is the fullest expression of each varietal. It is a blend of our most exceptional vineyards,” says Herve Birnie Scott, Estate Director. “This blend of terroirs is unique to Terrazas. It seeks to offer to the Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon lovers the most achieved expression of the varietal, through the savvy combination of the most distinguished plots of three complementary and exceptional vineyards.”

Terrazas Grand Malbec is a blend of 14 selected plots from three of Terrazas’ high-altitude vineyards — Las Compuertas (3510 ft), Los Castaños (3608 ft) and Lican (3937 ft). The Malbec from the deep soil of Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo reveals red fruit aromas and flavors and round tannins, the company says, while the rocky terroir of Los Castaños in the Uco Valley provides floral and aromatic spice notes. The grapes from Lican, also located in the Uco Valley, complete the blend with Malbec color, aromas of black fruit and mineral notes with structure and concentration.

Terrazas Grand Cabernet Sauvignon is blended from five plots of two of Terrazas’ high-altitude vineyards, Los Aromos (3215 ft) and El Pedregal (3608 ft).

The Cabernet Sauvignon from the gravely and loamy soil of Los Aromos vineyard in Luján de Cuyo reveals black fruit notes, such as blackcurrant, the company says, while the rocky terroir of El Pedregal in the Uco Valley imbues wines with fire-roasted red pepper and hints of mint.

“Terrazas Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is an aromatic, layered and complex wine, revealing red fruit aromas such as sour cherry and pomegranate, spicy notes, as well as fresh aromatic herbs on the finish,” says Moureau. “The wine is intense and tight on the palate, displaying beautiful freshness and a long, elegant and balanced finish.”

Both Terrazas de los Andes Grand Malbec and Grand Cabernet 2017 vintages will retail for a suggested price of $64.99 per 750-ml. bottles.
