Both beer and whiskey fans have reason to rejoice for this latest release. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., in collaboration with Buffalo Trace Distillery, has debuted Colonel E.H. Taylor Bourbon Barrel-Aged Bigfoot.

This barleywine ale aged seven years, with the last year spent in E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon barrels.

The beer is E.H. Taylor, Jr. bourbon’s first national beer collaboration.

Colonel E.H. Taylor Bourbon Barrel-Aged Bigfoot is 15% ABV. It comes in in 750-ml. bottles in a canister reminiscent of the E.H. Taylor, Jr. packaging.

The beer brings rich flavors of molasses, caramel and burnt sugar, the brewery reports, balanced by whole-cone Pacific Northwest hops found in Sierra Nevada’s cult-classic Bigfoot Ale.

“The time in the barrels has changed the beer and made it so complex,” says Sierra Nevada Product Manager Terence Sullivan. “We love collaborations. But something of this magnitude — some of the finest beer and some of the finest bourbon in the world — it’s really something special.”

Colonel E.H. Taylor Bourbon Barrel-Aged Bigfoot will only be available in select markets and in limited quantities through Sierra Nevada’s online shop.

“Both Sierra Nevada and Buffalo Trace Distillery are pioneers in innovation amongst their categories,” says Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley. “Collaborating on a project like this is quite special. Both companies have made a massive impact on pushing the boundaries of craft beer and American whiskey, leading the foray into premiumizing the industry.”
