The Glenlivet Relaunches 21, 25 Year Whiskies

The Glenlivet 21 and 25 relaunch with a mix of cask finishes and new packaging.

Speyside-based The Glenlivet has reconfigured its 21 and 25 Year Old expressions with a combination of cask finishes and new packaging.

The Glenlivet 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry, Troncais oak Cognac and Vintage Colheita port casks. The result is notes of caramelized pears and sultanas, with hints of warming ginger, the company reports. Deriving from the Cognac cask influence, the flavor also contains nutmeg and cinnamon, before a rich spice finish.

The Glenlivet 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry and Troncais oak Cognac casks. Flavors include sweet fig and blood orange, originating from the sherry influence, complemented by the Cognac casks’ warming notes of ginger, toasted oak and a hint of charred pineapple, the company reports.

The distillery has also introduced a new appearance for the bottle and the box for both expressions. This new look is meant as an elevated, luxurious take on The Glenlivet’s traditional packaging.

“The Glenlivet 21 Year Old and 25 Year Old are two of our most iconic whiskies, and this has been an exciting opportunity to work as part of our new team of makers to reimagine and elevate the expressions,” says Lisa Glen, The Glenlivet Distillery Expert. “By merging the signature style of The Glenlivet with different cask finishes for layered complexity, we’ve set new standards in taste and quality.”
