American Single Malt pioneer Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey has unveiled its second annual release of Diamond Peak.
Diamond Peak Batch #2: Extra Añejo Cask is a marriage of Stranahan’s aged 5 to 8 years, before additional resting of more than 2 years in casks that previously held José Cuervo Reserva de Familia extra añejo tequila.
The resulting nose is peppery and floral, layered with butterscotch, the company says. The palate is herbal, salted caramel with a mellow oak backbone, before a finish of creamy malt that fades into light agave sugar.
Bottled at 90 proof Stranahan’s Diamond Peak Batch #2: Extra Añejo Cask is available nationwide and online for a suggested retail price of $79.99 to $84.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
As announced in 2022, Stranahan’s will release Diamond Peak into the market every year with a new, limited-release cask finish.
This follows the release of Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Mountain Angel 10-Year Batch 3.
