Bardstown Bourbon Company will release its latest in the Collaborative Series this month, a blend of straight rye and bourbon finished in Foursquare Barbados Rum barrels.

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Foursquare Collaborative Series is available starting on April 21, 2023.

This blend of 7-year-old rye and 17-year-old bourbon was designed to accentuate Barbados flavor, the company says. The whiskey aged for 23 months in Foursquare Rum barrels on the top floor of rickhouse G. This creates a lower liquid volume due to increased evaporation, but also yields a concentrated expression.

The result is a nose of plantain, toasted almond and clove, according to the company, with coconut, peanut, orange zest and raisin. On the palate is a balance of rye spice and aged oak, leading to a finish of baked fruit, lingering spice and caramel sweetness.

Foursquare Rum Distillery is located on a former sugar farm that dates back to approximately 1720, on the Caribbean island of Barbados. The distillery was re-opened by the Seale family in 1996. Distilling operations and blending are currently directed by Richard Seale, fourth generation Generation Trader/Distiller of R.L. Seale & Co.

The Foursquare Rum Collaborative Series comes bottled at 107 proof. The suggested retail price is $159.99 per 750-ml. bottle. Roughly 3,000 9L cases of the finished bourbon will roll out through the Bardstown Bourbon Co. gift shop, at retailers in 24 states and online at Seelbachs.com.
