Bardstown Bourbon Co. celebrates Bourbon Heritage Month with two new releases: Silver Oak Finish, and the 12th iteration of the Discovery series.
Both launch September 6.
The distillery’s Silver Oak finish is a blend of six 9- to 15-year-old bourbons, finished in Silver Oak cabernet barrels for 17 months.
Silver Oak Cellars has more than 50 years of aging cabernet sauvignon exclusively in American Oak barrels.
“In age-old crafts like winemaking and distillation, creating something new requires curiosity,” says Nate Weis, VP of winegrowing, Silver Oak. “This is an ethos that Silver Oak and Bardstown share, be it in the way we connect with our customers in the Napa Valley or Kentucky, or exploring the horizons of our shared passion, American oak.”
On the nose, layers of baked strawberry, plum, and roasted nuts are highlighted by cinnamon and cocoa, the distillery reports. A palate of caramel and fig leads to a lightly tannic balance of oak, spice and blackberry, striking a balance of fruit and barrel notes.
Bardstown Bourbon’s Silver Oak finish comes bottled at 108 proof. The suggested retail price is $159.99 per 750-ml. bottle.

Earlier this year, Bardstown Bourbon announced the full suite of collaborations planned for the year including Blackberry Farm, set to be released regionally this fall, and Amrut Distillery, pioneer of Indian single malts.
Accompanying the Collaborative release, Bardstown will also roll out the 12th iteration of its Discovery Series. This line is meant to highlight the art of blending.
Discovery 12 is a blended collection of four whiskies, including a 6-year-old four grain recipe distilled and aged at Bardstown Bourbon Co. With each release, the Discovery series releases will include an increased percentage of Bardstown Bourbon’s estate distilled whiskies.
On the nose is baked cherry, toasted oak, vanilla cream and hazelnut. The palate brings a balance of wood sugar and spice that gives way to a finish of coconut, red fruit and caramel.
Discovery 12 comes presented at 115.2 proof. The suggested retail price is $139.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
This follows the recent release of Bardstown Bourbon High Wheat Bourbon.
