Barrell Craft Spirits has launched the fourth offering in its Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish Series: Ice Wine.
The limited-edition series is meant to utilize the company’s blending and finishing experience to make bespoke blends of straight bourbon whiskeys with unique finishes. Previous cask-finished bourbons include Amburana, A Tale of Two Islands Rum Finish, and Mizunara.
For the newest expression, the BCS blending team created a blend of Indiana (5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 year), Kentucky (5 and 8 year), Tennessee (9 and 15 year) and Wyoming (9 year) bourbon whiskeys featuring multiple mashbills. The blend was then further matured in ice wine casks, and bottled at cask strength (106.52 proof) in Kentucky with a derived mashbill of corn (71%), rye (24%), malted barley (4%) and wheat (1%).
The resulting bourbon has a rich body, and notes of stone fruit and white chocolate, the distillery reports.
The new expression is now available online via the BCS website at barrellbourbon.com, and in retailers for the suggested retail price of $89.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
Founded in 2013 in Louisville, KY, BCS selects and blends products that explore different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments.
