Barrell Craft Spirits has released Barrell Bourbon Batch 30.

This a blend of straight bourbon whiskeys — 5, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 15-year old barrels — distilled and aged in TN, KY, IN and WY.

The Indiana whiskeys, 5 years old, bring tropical fruit notes, while the 10-year-old high-rye Tennessee bourbons provide stone fruit. Most of the other barrels were noteworthy for their nuttiness.

After mingling separately for a month, they were all blended together. Finally, a wheated bourbon from Kentucky and Wyoming went into the blend to add complexity.

Barrell Bourbon Batch 30 is bottled at cask strength, 117.32 proof.

On the nose is French cider, quince, apple cider vinegar, peach cobbler, pumpkin, fig and earthy notes, the company says. The oak brings coconut macaroon, coriander and peppermint. The palate is coffee ice cream, oatmeal raison cookie sandwich, basil, fennel seed, chai and herbs, with notes of subtle tropical fruit.

The finish has caramel and milk chocolate, with flashes of orange curacao, pawpaw and toasted coconut.

The suggested retail price is $90 per 750-ml. bottle.

This follows the release of Barrell Bourbon Batch 029.

Barrell Craft Spirits is a Louisville-based independent bottler of craft spirits.
