The Cooper Spirits Co., an independent producer of spirits founded by third-generation distiller Robert J. Cooper, has announced the launch of its 16-year-old Lock Stock & Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey.
This 3000-case, limited release of 107-proof straight rye whiskey was created for connoisseurs and collectors. Lock Stock & Barrel is double distilled from a mash bill of 100-percent rye grain in copper pot stills with a “robust cut” selected by master distillers, unfiltered, then aged in cold weather for 16 years in newly charred American oak barrels.
It is “explosively flavorful yet balanced,” the company reports, with notes of roasted acorns, sour grass, wild cherries, stewed blackberry, dried pear and sassafras. It has aromas of rich, sweet dried fruits and spices.
“We tasted many barrels in our extensive collection of aged, straight rye whiskey and culled the finest that have matured to 16 years old,” said Cooper, founder of The Cooper Spirits Co. “Winning the highest honors at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition further validates the integrity of what we put into every bottle.”
Lock Stock and Barrel 16 is meant to be savored neat, over a large ice cube or with a splash of spring water and is available in limited quantities across the nation at a suggested retail price of $149.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
