Angry Orchard Rosé Hard Cider

Angry Orchard this spring will release Angry Orchard Rosé hard cider.

Made with a blend of apples including red flesh apples from France, Angry Orchard Rosé has the crisp qualities of cider with a rosy color and floral aroma, the company says.

The Angry Orchard team experimented with small batches at the Angry Orchard Cidery in New York’s Hudson River Valley to find the right balance of ingredients. Ultimately, they found a red flesh apple in Brittany, France, that contributes to the cider’s bright apple flavor and rosy hue. These apples, known as Amour Rouge or Red Love were then blended with the juices of six apple varieties and other ingredients, like a hint of hibiscus.

Angry Orchard Rosé hard cider’s apple-forward taste is complimented by light tannins, similar to a semi-dry wine. It has a light, refined floral aroma, the company says, with a medium mouthfeel, and bright apple finish. The cider pairs with a variety of cuisines, the company says, from creamy cheeses, like gouda and feta and hearty, to flavorful meats, like ham and prosciutto.

Angry Orchard Rosé hard cider (5.5% ABV) is available nationwide in 6-packs for a suggested retail price of $7.99-9.99 (varies per market), and 12-pack variety packs with other Angry Orchard styles for $14.99-16.99 (varies by market) starting this month.

Angry Orchard Rosé will also be featured at this year’s Kentucky Derby as the Derby’s official hard cider.
