Ricasoli, a classic wine producer from the Chianti Classico region, has announced the Raritas Collection. This series of Sangiovese Crus is meant to show off the winery’s individually identified 19 different soil types and five principal soil substrates. The wines include:
2015 Ricasoli Colledilà Chianti Classico Gram Selezione DOCG (SRP: $70 per 750-ml. bottle)
- Aging: 18 months in tonneaux of 500-L., 30% new and 70% of second passage
- Age: 2002
- Variety: Sangiovese VCR23, VCR5, Brolio Clones
- Soil: Cru of Sangiovese from Monte Morello soil
2015 Ricasoli Roncicone Chianti Classico Gram Selezione DOCG (SRP: $85)
- Aging: 18 months in tonneaux of 500-L., 30% new and 70% of second passage
- Age: 1998–2000
- Variety: Sangiovese VCR23, VCR5, Brolio Clones
- Soil: Cru of Sangiovese from Marine deposit soil
