Barrell Craft Spirits has released Barrell Bourbon Batch 028, a blend of 10- and 11-year-old barrels.
The chosen barrels represent “three distinct sub-groups,” the company says. The first was aroma-forward, with notes of tropical fruit, citrus zest and spices. The second has richness in the middle-palate, plus a sweet, almond flavor throughout. Tannins and a peppery quality define the third, which makes up the final whiskey’s backbone.
Barrell Bourbon Batch 028 was distilled and aged in TN, KY and IN at 108.86 proof (cask strength). It is available for a suggested retail price of $90 per 750-ml. bottle.
On the nose is Maraschino liqueur, dried apricot, rosemary, bamboo shoots and cocoa butter, the company reports. The palate is fruity with praline sweetness and sea salt minerality, plus brown butter and tannins. The finish is complex with fruit flavors, peppery gin and more of that earlier minerality.
This follows the company’s latest bourbon release from the Barrell Craft Spirits Line.
