Corazón Tequila has unveiled its 2021 collection of Expresiones del Corazón, limited-edition barrel-aged tequilas aged in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels.

A new Elmer T. Lee Reposado joins William Larue Weller Añejo, George T. Stagg Añejo and Artisanal Blanco for this release, arriving in stores now.

Elmer T. Lee Reposado aged 12 months in Elmer T. Lee barrels. It has a smooth, lightly sweet flavor with toasted almond, cinnamon and chocolate notes, the company reports.

The William Larue Weller Añejo in this year’s release aged 26 months in William Larue Weller bourbon barrels. That’s nearly a year longer than previous releases of this expression. The extra aging created a smooth and dense taste with lightly sweet overtones, the company reports.

George T. Stagg Añejo aged 22 months in George T. Stagg barrels. It tastes of cinnamon, chocolate and green apple, according to distillery notes.

The Artisanal Blanco spent 60 days in stainless steel. This expression has a sweet, soft, mint, eucalyptus and slightly tangy taste.

Corazón comes from the Casa San Matias Distillery in Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico. The brand uses 100% blue agave from the highlands.

“We are very proud of this year’s collaboration between two highly awarded distilleries,” says Agave Marketing Director Megan Hurtuk. “With a shared passion for craftsmanship and experimentation, Casa San Matias and the Buffalo Trace Distillery are represented so perfectly in these tequilas — we look forward to raising a glass with tequila & bourbon aficionados alike!”

The suggested retail price for the Artisanal Blanco is $59.99 per 750-ml. bottle. Elmer T. Lee Reposado retails for $69.99, while William Larue Weller Añejo and George T. Stagg Añejo are $79.99 each.

All four of these expressions are 80 proof.

This follows the recent Sazerac Company releases of Buffalo Trace Old Charter Oak French Oak Bourbon and the 2021 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.
