The second release in 2023 of Booker’s Bourbon is Booker’s Batch 2023-02 Apprentice Batch.

Each release in this annual whiskey line has a unique name that alludes to the people, places and/or history behind the brand. This batch pays homage to the beginning of Booker Noe’s distilling career, when he first learned how to make bourbon under the guidance of his cousin, Carl Beam.

Booker started working at the Jim Beam Distillery in 1952. Shortly after, Carl became his mentor. Two years after Booker started, Jim Beam purchased a distillery in Boston, KY, to increase production capabilities. Carl and Booker worked together to get this facility up and running, and eventually, Carl handed the reins over to Booker. This is where he was able to experiment and master the bourbon-making process, and later on, the location was renamed the Booker Noe Distillery.

Booker’s apprenticeship under Carl helped him become the Master Distiller and legendary innovator he is remembered as today, the company says.

Like all batches of Booker’s Bourbon, Apprentice Batch was selected by Seventh Generation Master Distiller Fred Noe. Uncut and unfiltered, this batch is 125.5 proof. It aged 7 years, 1 month and 2 days.

The result is an oak-forward aroma balanced with vanilla and toasted nuts, the company reports.

Booker’s Bourbon Apprentice Batch has a suggested retail price of $89.99 for a 750-ml. bottle.

For Jim Beam this follows the recent releases of Booker’s Bourbon Batch 2023-01 Charlie’s Batch, and Clermont Steep American Single Malt Whiskey.
