High West has announced the annual release of A Midwinter Night’s Dram whiskey for 2023, with the Act 11 expression.
This limited-edition bottle rolls out through the brand’s Utah distillery and Saloon locations, as well as at retailers nationwide in limited quantities, beginning October 8.
A Midwinter Night’s Dram Act 11 is made from High West’s Rendezvous Rye whiskey expression, finished in ruby and tawny port barrels.
The mash bill is a blend of 95% rye, 5% barley malt from MGP; and 80% rye, 20% malted rye from High West distillate.
On the nose is poached pears, dried cherry, star anise, nutmeg, spiced Christmas cookie, dark chocolate mocha, cinnamon ginger cake and leaves on a forest floor, the company reports. The palate brings fig, cranberry, dark plum jam on rye toast, gingerbread, sipping chocolate, brandied cherries, winter-spiced mocha and French oak spice. The finish is Luxardo cherry at the bottom of a Manhattan cocktail.
