Smooth Ambler has welcomed back Old Scout 7 Bourbon to the brand family.

When Smooth Ambler’s founder John Little first started “scouting” for whiskey in 2011, he launched Old Scout 7. The goal was to become the standard for sourcing whiskey by being transparent about bottling quality whiskies from around the U.S. and sharing it widely, the company says.

“Transparently sourcing whiskey was, and still is, such an important part of our foundation,” says Little. “And, as it turns out, quite a few folks liked what we were doing with Old Scout. Today, we are proud to keep the practice going and bring back the legendary Old Scout 7, a high-rye mashbill bottled at 99 proof.”

The Old Scout 7 mashbill is made up of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley.  The high rye content adds bold, sweet and spicy flavors, according to the company. The result is a nose of apple, leather and cherry pipe tobacco, before a palate that’s sweet and spicy.

Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 is available at select liquor stores throughout CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, LA, MD,MI, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, WI and WV.
