2014 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

3 Badge Beverage Corporation has released 2014 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from its Gehricke brand.

Founded by August Sebastiani, Gehricke specializes in small-lot wines from Sonoma County.

The Gehricke Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the west side of the Bavarian Lion vineyard: a cooler-climate, higher-elevation site in Knights Valley. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (85%), Petit Verdot (6%), Petite Sirah (5%) and Malbec (4%) and was aged 18 months in French oak.

The majority of the grapes were selected from a flat area with limited terrain, producing more blue fruit flavors, while one quarter of the grapes were sourced from a steep knoll, bringing in a complementary touch of red spice fruit, the company says. This wine has aromas of black cherry liqueur, complemented with hints of cedar, pencil lead and licorice. It is 14.2% ABV.

Production of the Knights Valley Cabernet was 1,077 cases, and the wines come in a 6-pack lay down box. The suggested retail price is $35 per 750-ml. bottle.
